Skate NONAME Has been launched!!
So my latest project in life is the starting of a skate business (kind of why I have been neglecting my own site..) where I produce high grade Skateboarding Wax! The name is a spin-off of Emanon Entertainment, its called Noname Skate Wax! I’ve got a lot of people talking in the area, getting GREAT feedback from the users and it looks like we’re on a slow rise to greatness. The skaters I’ve picked to be on the team are quite the bunch of guys. Very well rounded and VERY talented. Below is a promo video I shot the first weekend Noname was launched, plenty more to come so ENJOY!
Emanon Entertainment Skate Promo Released!
T-Town Skate Throwdown went amazing! Met a lot of local people, and it really started to help get my name out in the area. Thanks to Jahson I was able to get listed as a major sponsor by donating my time filming for them (working on editing, pretty busy lately). My main reason for wanting to hit up the T-Town Skate Throwdown was to spread the word about my new skate promo! Which here it is!
This video contains footage from the past 6 months of my new Lumix Gh1, as well as some old footage from on my Zi8 and my Sony DSC-F828. I’m really really stoked about how well this turned out, and i look forward to this summer getting alot more footage and networking with a lot of skate shops in the area!

Here’s just the clip of johnny dislocating his elbow..

First ever Music Video!!
About a week ago I went to the 10th annual Lyon Pride Music Festival near George WA. A local band named W1SH (pronounced 1 Wish) was headlining the event, so I was asked to come shoot a quick video of them. The day turned out to be very windy and dusty due to the location of the venue, but no matter. During the day I shot their 2 song sound check, as well as their full set at 1am that night. Most of the night footage turned out pretty dark and muddy, but then again we had 1 of my 800w Red heads and a truck with high beams as lighting…I would have LOVED to have been able to shoot multiple locations and actually produce a real music video, but until then I’ll have to grab anything I can. Here’s the result of everything!

This music video was shot at the Lyon Pride Camp Out on 4-16-11. Shot the sound check during the day, and mixed what footage from the concert at 1am I felt looked right.
Shooting this video I only had one chance to shoot all the footage, so I hope everyone likes how it turned out.

Truck load of new gear!!!
So, these last few, and next few days I get Christmas on my
porch after work every day! This is what I came home to on Thursday!
First thing up to open was my Polaroid 4 Piece multi-coated filter kit. Came with UV, CPL, FLD, and a Warming. I was especially attracted to the warming filter, due to it helping tremendously when shooting any photos/video of people. (although really I should be shooting flat and color correcting in post..but this is for not so serious shots. I grabbed a 52mm set,
because of my 14-42mm Lumix G Vario, and my new canon 28mm f2.8. I was sort of leaning towards buying a set to fit my Neewer .45x Wide angle, but after receiving the set, there’s actually 52mm threads on the filter too, so the attachment just screws right on! Also in that little Amazon box was 4 8gb Transcend class 10 Cards. Needed more for out in the field.
Next up is the FlyCam Nano replacement. Seems to be actually functioning right this time. Not only that, but the handle is actually I think 2 inches longer,
THANK GOD! I’ll have a full review on the FlyCam in a week or so.
And now for the big boxes! One was a 30″ duffel bag, to hold all my gear for traveling (don’t really need to show a picture of that..ha). As well as the Cowboy Studio 1600w Lighting Kit! Was super excited to receive my first ever lighting kit. I had spent QUITE some time looking around for a 2 light set with soft-boxes AND barn doors. After using them once now, they are worth every penny. Although the soft boxes rent so easy to setup, maybe its just cause I’m still new at all this! I’m really excited about the loads of new equipment that keeps arriving. I cant wait to start doing as many projects as I can find time for!
Got to officially break in my GH1!!
Over the last weekend, my friend Johnny Berg and I traveled to Winthrop to pickup our friend Steven Sullivan. Left my place at 9 got to Lake Chelan by 11:30. Needless to say it was an amazing weekend. Got a LOT of great footage, and I am extremely happy with how the video turned out! Take a gander for yourself!

Back from a long break of procrastination!
Wow, idk what came over me the last while, but it has been QUITE some time since I last posted. So many things have happened! My father has invested in me, leading to copius equipment showing up in the next week(we’ll get to this more in a bit!). But real quick let me to setup my camera for a timelapse (without an intervalometer by speedin
g up video). Anyways, back to business.
Recently my father donated to my business, helping me more than I could have ever imagined. First up I ordered the Lumix G Vario 14-42mm Lens off Amazon. I defiantly needed a wider lens. I have been stuck on my Canon 50mm f1.8 (not that I’m complaining, its a GORGEOUS lens!) but it was a much needed widen of what I was used to.
Also, in my first box was the Opteka X-Grip, quite the nice handle!
I used it more than anything on my first shoot with it, and the shots came out clean as heck. The X-Grip is easily worth every penny, if you’re shooting that kind of shot. I’ve made ones in the past out of PVC pipe, and I mean they work, but you don’t look to professional with white PVC toy on a thousand dollar camera. All in all the build is pretty sturdy, except i do notice the arch of the handle + the weight of the camera can create a kind of bouncy sway effect due to the fact its made out of plastic. But none the less, worth every penny. I’ll defiantly continue to use this thing on a daily basis and buy more if they break in the long run.
To help out the wide angleness I put on the Neewer 52mm .45x Wide Angle Lens on my new 14-42 and it looks pretty nice! The corners have vignetting around the corners, as well as blurriness near all sides…but hey, what can you expect for 10 bucks!
Another thing that came in a couple days later was my FlyCam Nano!!! Needless to say I was overly ancy to get my hands on this puppy. I’ve seen so many review videos and sample videos I felt I had to have one. Upon arrival
I immediately looked up balance videos to get the 100% gist of everything. That way I know I wouldnt miss a thing. After about an hour of balancing it, I felt like I had it perfect, but then once the camera was turned 90, 180, or 270 degrees it became off balance. So I hopped online and found a video of someone with the same problem! (Here) Apparently the gymbal needs to be re-calibrated.. Needless to say I was pretty dissapointed, so I contacted the company and they have issued a replacement immediatly (we’ll see if this works, I’ve heard they send you new ones and they still don’t work). Should be here in the next couple days, along with a LAUNDRY list of other things.
Here is a picture of how my camera looks after everything
New backpack arrived!
After purchasing my Lumix Gh1 I quickly realized that it needed protection…For the past week or so I have been carrying it around my neck, putting it down on blankets in my car. The last thing I was going to do was throw it in my thrashed 5 year old skate backpack ha!
So there I was, on the hunt for a new bag. Took a while sorting through the dozens of lists on amazon.com, then I found one on ebay! $45! Couldn’t pass it up!At the time I had just purchased my Gh1 and pretty much completely broke. Desperate for a case I sold my Kodak Zi8 to my boss Jerrid, whom scooped it up for quick shots of him and his daughter. Once he told me he’d take it I immediately ordered the backpack. Showed up in a quick 4 days from California and was perfect! Except that it smells like it came off a farm?
Some random features:
- 14 removable foam/cloth padded pieces
to easily switch it up depending on what I’m carrying at the time. - Foam guarded laptop slot
- Gigantic front pouches with small slots
- Chest & Waist belt
- HUGE!!
Yeah the best part about it, is its’ size. It’s quite thicker than the pictures show, but it’s not so thick that I feel top heavy. I haven’t had much weight in it yet, but it seems very very comfy.
Needless to say it’s well worth the trade.
Targus Tripods UNDER $15!!
So I didn’t have a tripod prior to owning my GH1, so that was easily my first purchase. I looked all over amazon searching for the cheapest thing possible. Just something to hold it up and have a bubble level. I came across the Targus TG-5060TR. 6 bucks plus 5 shipping, Couldn’t go wrong! So I
bought two!!
They have a decently okay quick release, plastic but it works for now. The main reason for getting two was to have one to take apart. I want a head for other things I’m planning on building, as well as turning one into a cheap steadycam. To describe the tripod bluntly, you get what you pay for. They’re nice, but made of cheap light aluminum. I pretty much have to do a 2 second timer on everything or its fuzzy from pressing the shutter. But, for video, its nice. Not the most fluid going from side to side, but its a screw on plastic..ha! Anyways, just thought I’d do a quick review on them. Well worth the money for a cheap tripod!
Keeping them coming!
Since I got my Gh1 I’ve been trying every which way to make something
with it. As you probably see from my past videos I’m into shooting skate videos for friends, so on saturday my friend Johnny Berg and I headed to Tonasket to break the ice with my new camera! We get to tonasket and the skatepark is froze over still from winter..So we found a manny pad near by! Here’s the footage I shot. Hope you enjoy!
